Indigenous tribes gather this honey from the Giant Honeybees (apis breviligula) found in the forest of Bataan. The characteristic of yellow to dark amber color is due to the nectar and pollen source. The bees collect their food from the different species of timber trees, wild fruit trees, vines, shrubs and herbs.
This honey has moisture content of 21% and contains a lot of pollen. In some cases, honey granules form a suspension with peanut butter-like consistency. Granulation is common among honey gathered from the wild.

The University of the Philippines, Los Banos (UPLB BEE PROGRAM) created a thorough beekeeping
course (from hunting, management, hygienic harvesting, and post harvest) that was given to traditional
honey-hunters and marginal families to motivate them to increase honey harvest and other beekeeping
by-products.
Together with MILEA Bath and Body (also into beekeeping and a beekeeping advocate),
the bee program is moving forward to assist the farmers in marketing their produce and encourage
them to continue their current sustainable beekeeping practice.
The Bee Program is now recognized abroad as a competent and reliable entity when it comes to the
observance of international standards involving the flow of materials and information regarding
appropriate beekeeping practices. The program is a recipient of these awards:

Let's Drink Honey
Natural honey is the best of all nutritive sweeteners. Honey contains detergent and tonic properties, and it opens obstructions in the liver, kidney and bladder.
