Amazing!!!!By karenbrat1 "karenbrat1" (Inland Northwest, USA) After decades of sinus problems including frequent infections that often required multiple bouts of antibiotics to clear up, I was finally referred to an ENT specialist who prescribed sinus surgery. The partitions between my sinuses were all broken out in endoscopic surgery to allow better drainage. This bottle, in a kit with at least 50 premixed salt/baking soda packets, was required for use after the surgery 3x a day for two weeks and then 2x a day for a few more weeks, to keep the nasal cavities moist and wash out any crusts that had formed.The sensation of having your sinuses filled with salt water takes a little getting used to, as well as learning how to breathe so as not to inhale the water. I never did get to the point of the other reviewer in letting it wash through my mouth -- ick. I bend over the sink and gently squeeze the bottle until the solution starts running out my other nostril, take the bottle away and snort it out, repeat with other nostril. Takes 3 squirts each side to empty the bottle. I've found I must tilt my head the opposite direction to fully empty that sinus -- i.e. if the bottle tip was inserted in my right nostril, I tilt my head to the left and blow. Have a tissue handy if you lean over later on, because some liquid may accumulate in your lower sinuses and run out when you bend sideways to look under the desk, for instance.I still use this 2-3x a day whenever I get a cold along with the usual OTC cold meds and since the surgery I have never had to be on antibiotics, even though my sinuses still occasionally get infected I have been able to get over it on my own. The saline is very soothing to inflamed tissues (I also gargle salt water if I have a sore throat due to sinus drainage) and helps rinse out the gunk that causes infection. When the packets run out, just mix 2 parts salt to one part baking soda and use about 3/4 teaspoon of the mixture to dissolve in the bottle.
Really works!, January 17, 2010 By ChibiNeko When my allergist told me to use this product, I'll be honest. I had no intentions of using it. It wasn't until all of my coworkers started doing this & my little sister started using it & telling me how awesome she felt afterwards that I finally decided to try it. (Well, that & I had the beginnings of a bad cold.)The product came with a few packets of the solution as well as a pre-filled bottle. After a few starts & stops, I finally managed to use the product. (I'm a wimp, what can I say?) The relief from this was quite noticeable. I was partially clogged in one nostril, not to mention congested & this helped immensely.I don't think I'm likely to love the sensation of the solution going through my nasal passages, but my nose was far less clogged afterwards & I was able to ease my congestion a lot. I also liked that this was a squeeze bottle- I don't know if I'd have done this if I had to use the netipot version. (Did I mention that I'm a wimp?)If you are debating whether or not to use this, get it. It really does help out a lot & as long as you are using it correctly it is very safe! If you are nervous about using it, don't be. This sinus rinse stuff is worth bolstering your courage for.
Good for fighting off sinus infections, December 4, 2008 By Jeffrey Gillman (Michigan USA) I've owned this for a year or so, and it's easier to use and more efficient than a neti pot, because you can apply a bit more force than a neti pot's gravity feed provides. The design is simple and works well, and it's easy to use and clean. I don't use it regularly (although I should), but I always turn to nasal lavage when I feel a cold or sinus infection coming on, and the procedure really seems to lessen the length and severity or the illness, or stope them altogether... I used to suffer for weeks with sinus infections in the winter, and now I use this twice a day for a few days when I feel one coming on, and it usually stops it.
Weird sensation, but Nasel-riffic..., June 1, 2008 By A Pilgrim (San Jose, Ca United States)This product really is a blessing to allergy sufferers, or at least this allergy sufferer.For years I've had to load up on Claritin, Allegra, and Zyrtec, just to make my life tolerable; I have often resorted to using two of these medications at once, just because my body has developed a tolerance for them.While I still need to use medications like Zyrtec, there days where heavy pollen or pollution require more than a conventional medication; this where the NeilMed Sinus Rinse comes in to play.This kit only comes with a few packets of a sodium bicarbonate/saline powder that you mix with water, if you like the system you'll definitely need to buy more; if you don't like it, well then your out a few bucks and you're not stuck with 50 or 100 packets like the other kits. More importantly, this kit comes with the essential tool, the Neil Med Bottle. With a tube that almost touches the bottom of the bottle, the slightest pressure forces saline water through the nozzle like a little geyser.Allowing the saline water to actually shoot up your nose and course its way down your nasal cavity and into your mouth takes some acclimation; it's definitely a weird sensation. But, its worth it. Somehow the solution is able to break down and flush out mucus and allergens stuck up there. After your nose dries out in a few minutes it's usually easier to breath through your nose.Another benefit of the saline solution is that it makes life difficult for microbial residents in your sinuses. Especially those that cause sinus infections.
Great for allergies, colds, January 4, 2010 As others have mentioned, it may feel a little weird/uncomfortable at first, but you soon get used to the sensation of the solution in your nasal passages. I've never felt any burning with the mixture as I've felt with other sinus rinse products. You can control the amount of force easily by squeezing lighter or harder, a definite plus over the netipot; this way, you can really blast out any congestion that has built up from allergies or a sinus infection.I've found that it can really decrease the severity and length of a head cold or allergy outbreak. The mixture packets are cheap, easy to open, and, again, don't burn at all. The bottle is light and easy to transport. Afterwards you will want to tilt your head back and forth, side to side, over the sink, in order to drain out any remaining solution. Highly recommend this product, and wish I had discovered 10, even 20 years ago.
Convenient sinus rinse, February 6, 2007 By Twilight (Ohio) I have used a traditional ceramic neti pot for years in order to perform sinus rinses. I was given a NeilMed bottle (by a satisfied new user)and have been quite pleased with it. Its advantage over the neti is that it is lightweight & nonbreakable (packs easily for travel) and, I feel, more easy to clean. I prefer the NeilMed pre-measured buffered solution powder to the traditional neti DIY sea salt, but either solution can be used in either system. The neti pot seems to get somewhat more into "deeper" sinuses, but it is best used in one's own home. Actually, I now use both systems. But more often, I grab the NeilMed bottle.

Life changing, July 1, 2009 By W. Steiskal "Busy Mom" (Ohio )I decided to try this because I was so tired of the sinus headaches, infections and general misery of allergies. I have been using twice a day for about three weeks and this has changed my life. I haven't had a headache (which was an almost daily occurence before) since I starting using the Sinus Rinse. I have stopped taking my allergy medication and using nasal sprays. They both made me very suseptible to viral infections. So far so good. I feel better now than I have in a very long time.I have never left a review for anything before, but wanted to let people know this really works and takes literally minutes a day. No more time than brushing your teeth. I much prefer a natural way of fighting allergy symptoms than taking multiple pills and sprays.

I don't like to take a lot of antibiotics, so I decided to give this product a try just to see if it would make any difference for me. Overnight, I feel so much better! My cold symptoms are a lot better, and I am coughing far less. And best of all...last night I didn't wake up with repeated coughing fits. I slept! This morning I can breathe freely! I will definitely recommend to friends that they give this a try.
Don't Delay -- Clear Sinuses Are on the Way!, December 10, 2009 By Lynn A. Kendall "bibliophile, -phage, and -ma... (Silicon Valley, CA United States) Several years ago my asthma manager strongly recommended this. So I bought the bottle and the pre-mixed packets, but the thought of squirting warm salt water up my nose creeped me out. They sat waiting in my medicine cabinet.Recently I've been driven to try it by laryngitis and a persistent cough. OMG, what an enormous difference it makes! Less hoarseness, less congestion, less coughing, easier breathing, general bliss. The rinsing cut at least a week off the laryngitis.The sensation is actually not unpleasant. I thought it would feel like drowning, but no. The warm salt water can even feel weirdly soothing.It's not just the cold easing up, either. I left the bottle at my girlfriend's and didn't retrieve it for several days. Definitely my sinuses were more congested and the mucus was thicker without the twice-daily rinse. Now that I have it again, the good effects have returned.I'm using the premixed packets now, but when they're gone I'll measure and mix my own uniodized salt and baking soda. It's a whole lot cheaper that way. But even if you use the packets, this product is completely worth it. It's a fast way to get better health without expensive drugs and their potentially unpleasant side effects.
Fantastic for rinsing out nasal passages-As an allergy sufferer with over 50 confirmed sensitivities to pollens and other allergens, this system with the squeeze bottle has made a huge difference in alleviating seasonal allergy symptoms. I rinse out my nasal passages daily prior to using a prescription nasal steroid spray, and my quality of life is dramatically increased.
Much better than a NetiPot -A NetiPot is probably great for rinsing the nasal passages and sinus cavities of allergens and what-not, but I have never really found it to be very effective. The mucus remains intact. But this product has a kind of squeeze bottle mechanism in it, so that although the rinse will easily drain out of the bottle and through the nose, slight pressure can also be applied to the bottle, loosening the mucus like I have never been able to get from a NetiPot.
Also a big help for allergies! -My granddaughter has a severe allergy to dust and uses the NeilMed Sinus rinse after every riding lesson. I suffer from allergies also, and finally decided to give this regimen a try. I love this product! Understand, it is not a cure for infections but it oftentimes clears up a condition before infection can set in. Clears sinuses; relieves sneezing; and stops that annoying post nasal drip/hacky cough. It works best if it becomes part of your daily routine.
Great Product -I was a bit apprehensive about putting water in my nose, but this was really not as bad as I thought it would be. The results were well worth it. This solution does a very thorough job of rinsing out the sinuses. I couldn't believe that it cleared out my congestion after the first rinse. It also does a great job of moisturizing the nasal passages. I used it twice a day with warm tap water and the packet of salt and it did the trick. Another plus is that it is much more economical. You would pay a great deal more for a regular saline or medicated nasal spray and not have as many uses as this product does. I buy the 100 refill packs of medical grade salt. Though other posters have used table salt and baking soda with tap water, the instructions say that the salt in the packets is medical grade and does not contain any impurities that may be found in regular table salt or baking soda. Very happy with this product.
