Don't play like opening and closing the hinges of the Nose Magic because it will loosen it's 20-25 mm Hg Pressure and become less effective. So just open the hinges every time you want to use it. For first time users, you usually see a difference and happy seeing your nose changing after 2 weeks but you have to continue another 4 weeks to make it permanent but once you heard it squeaks then you have to dispose it (based on my experience it squeaks after 2 months of using it) because that won't work anymore but since your nose has been adjusted to it's molding process you need a new Nose Magic and you will notice that your nose is MORE MALLEABLE than the first Nose Magic you had.
I think the reason is, even if our cartilage is soft to touch but we have to make it mold able to be able to change it's shape and changes getting better in the long run and should use only 20-25 mm Hg Pressure because if it has been loosen you won't be noticing any changes on your nose.
